Following weeks of speculation, including a possibility that production could move to Edmonton, Alberta, SciFi Channel has officially pulled the plug on "The Dresden Files," ending the show after just a single season.

TV Guide's Matt Roush broke the news to fans saying that the show just didn't make a big enough profit for the network to continue production.

SciFi Channel had avoided the topic of "Dresden" for some time, and would practically outright ignore anything asked about it. Robert Hewitt Wolfe -- the showrunner best known for his work on "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine" and "Gene Roddenberry's Andromeda" -- warned fans several weeks ago that the show was in danger of cancellation, but hoped still hinge on the fact that a final decision had yet to be made.

Don't worry about Paul Blackthorne, however, who played Harry Dresden in the series. He has joined the new ABC show "Big Shots" in a recurring role this fall, joining Dylan McDermott, Michael Vartan, Christopher Titus and Joshua Malina.

"The Dresden Files" premiered last January on the network and starred Blackthorne, Valerie Cruz and Terrence Mann. The series premiere earned a 1.37 household rating, according to Nielsen Media Research, giving it 1.73 million viewers, considered by many analysts a "weak debut" for a new series. At the time, however, it was doing just a bit less than "Battlestar Galactica," which had 1.8 million viewers the same time and a 1.39 household rating.

To be honest this show didn't really grab me I've only see the 1st episode(pilot) and it just seems to have copied other shows such as Blade and aspects of Harry Potter come to mind.

It's shame that these shows are not working out, they need to come up with something more original. Jericho on the other hand is different kettle of fish.

Aspects of the show are OK but it has borrowed heavily from other shows and films. I like your Avatar by the way!
