The future jump-ahead saw a slight slip in the ratings, but still is pulling in decent numbers to help finish out its first season.

"Heroes" earned a 7.0 rating/10 share for NBC Monday night, down from last week's 7.2/11, keeping it ahead of Fox's "24," according to Fast Nationals from Nielsen Media Research. The Fox series, which has reports of retooling for next year, pulled in a 6.5/10, and trailed "Heroes" in the key 18-49 age demographic popular with advertisers.

Both shows finished behind an extended version of "Dancing With the Stars" and a late start from "Two and a Half Men" and "The King of Queens, which started at 12.3/18, but was down to 8.4/13 by the end of the hour, according to Zap2it.

Thanks to "Dancing With the Stars," ABC took the win for the night with a 10.2/16, followed by CBS (8.2/13), NBC (6.1/10) and Fox (5.5/9).

It was the first Monday of sweeps, and both "Heroes" and "24" will be working to draw in as many viewers as possible with their respective season finales.

Fast Nationals usually provide a snapshot of what Americans are watching by pulling numbers from the top urban markets that includes both live viewing and same-day timeshifted viewing. A rating point generally represents more than 1.1 million households while the share indicates the percentage of televisions turned on that was tuned to the specific program. These numbers typically shift when final ratings are issued.

In the world of cable programming, the two Stargate series held their own, posting similar ratings on SciFi Channel compared to the season lows the shows posted a week before, according to GateWorld.

"Stargate SG-1" pulled in a 1.1 rating, a minimal increase over the previous week, while sister program "Stargate: Atlantis" built on that audience with a 1.3 rating, a 10 percent boost over its previous week.

"Painkiller Jane" is trying to hold its own, however, but is still finishing behind both Stargates with a 1.0, identical to what it received the week before.

Ratings from SciFi Channel include that of both live viewing, and those that watch the episode within 24 hours. It does not include 7-day viewing numbers.

"Heroes" airs Mondays at 9 p.m. on NBC, while the Stargates kick of SciFi Channel's programs at 8 p.m. ET on Fridays.
