Banderas Clarifies Rumors..
Despite rumors to the contrary, Antonio Banderas told SCI FI Wire that he hasn't been asked to take part in the sequel to Sin City, co-directed by his friend Robert Rodriguez, but that he is definitely eager to join it. "People keep asking me about this, but I don't know anything about it," Banderas said in interviews for Shrek the Third in Westwood, Calif., on May 5. "But the way this man works, he will literally call me the night before and say, 'Let's do this movie.' And I will do it. I've done six movies with him, and that is the way he works."
Banderas starred in all three of Rodriguez's Spy Kids films and said he loved the gritty and stylistic Sin City movie, which Rodriguez co-directed with Sin City graphic novelist Frank Miller, with help from Quentin Tarantino. Banderas said he was aware of the rumors of his involvement and admitted he would love to do it, even if it meant a scene in which he gets castrated, as happened to many of the characters in the first film.
"I would like to do it, yes, but I don't know anything about it," Banderas said. Banderas added that he would waive the usual stipulation of reading the script beforehand. "I would follow Robert Rodriguez into hell if he asked me to do it," he said. "I like the creativity of this guy." Banderas also starred in two of Rodriguez's Mariachi films, Desperado and Once Upon a Time in Mexico.
