Synopsis:
The film will be set in the future and will focus on the war between Skynet and mankind. It will pick up with John Connor in his 30s leading what's left of the human race against the machines.

Additional Notes
This film will look to reinvent the "Terminator" franchise with a storyline that is expected to be told over three movies.

The first three "Terminator" films all featured Arnold Schwarzenegger; it's unlikely the current governor of California would be involved in the fourth film (although a cameo is possible).

Also Known As: Terminator 4
Director: McG
Screenwriter(s): John Brancato, Michael Ferris
Producer(s): Moritz Borman, Victor Kubicek, Derek Anderson

According to Bild, Ralph Moeller is in talks of portraying the Terminator in the next sequel.

Ralph Moeller is well know for his muscle packed body, from playing "Conan" for the same titled TV-series. He also had roles in "Universal Soldier", "Gladiator" and "The Scorpion King".

He said, that the negotiations started and he will meet the Director soon.

The producers still hope to get Arnold Schwarzenegger for a guest-appearence.

Ralph Moeller is a former Mr. Universe, who was also the German Bodybuilding Champion of the International Federation of Body Builders, a champion boxer and worked as a professional swimmer for seven years.

Christian Bale to play John Connor in the new Terminator Film as well as Batman. Very Busy actor!  8)

John Connor won't just be back. He'll also be bat.

The Dark Knight himself, Christian Bale, has signed on to star as the heir to the cyborg-battling rebellion in Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins, the long-awaited fourth installment in the Terminator franchise.

While details on the film's plot have been kept under tight wraps, per the Hollywood Reporter, the action this time around will follow Connor, now in his thirties, leading the remainder of the human race in its ever-worsening battle against the machines.

However, reports have also been circulating that Bale's role, despite the party tag line, will not be as leading as it seems and that while Connor will indeed lead the rebellion, the next batch of films will actually feature a different character at the center of the action.

Taking on a smaller part in the series would seemingly make sense for Bale, who will no doubt need to devote increasing amounts of time to the revamped Batman franchise in future years.

Size of the part aside, Bale will join the ranks of previous Connor channelers Edward Furlong and Nick Stahl, both of whom played the character in T2 and T3, respectively.

Earlier this year the Halcyon Company, which produces the Terminator flicks, announced it would be reviving the blockbuster series with at least three new installments. Rather than picking up where Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines left off, however, the fourth installment will instead mark the beginning of a new trilogy.

Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins has already been fast-tracked for production, with producers looking to get the film in theaters by summer 2009, when its premiere will coincide with the release of a new Terminator video game.

Their haste in pushing the film into theaters is understandable as the franchise has so far grossed just over $1 billion since the first Terminator was released in 1984.

This time around, McG will direct the flick, which will be released by Warner Bros.

More Terminator news.. Kyle Reese has been casted.

SPOILERS ALERT...

Quote:
Anton Yelchin (JJ Abrams’ Star Trek, Charlie Bartlett) is in negotiations to star as John Connor’s father Kyle Reese in director McG’s Terminator 4. Yelchin would play a teenage version of Reese, who was played by Michael Biehn in the original James Cameron film.

According to Terminator mythology, Reese was born after the first war, and survived the capture and killing of his fellow humans only to serve as a Sonderkommando in one of Skynet’s concentration camps. A a resistance movement, led by John Connor, freed Reese and others from Skynet. Reese volunteered to travel back in time to the year 1984, in order to protect the young Sarah Connor, the known mother of resistance leader John Connor, from a Terminator sent by Skynet. On the run from the Terminator (played by Arnold Schwarzenegger), Reese and Sarah shared a night of intimacy, in which her future son was conceived. Reese was later killed by his own pipe-bomb while attempting to destroy the Terminator.

In Terminator 4, Reese befriends Marcus (played by Avatar’s Sam Worthington), an early version of the Terminator cyborg played in previous films by Arnold Schwarzenegger. Christian Bale plays a 30-year-old John Connor. Terminator 4 is the first film in a three film story arc.

David Campbell Wilson, John Brancato and Michael Ferris wrote the screenplay. Paul Haggis has also had talks about coming on board to do some script rewrites before principal photography begins in early May.

Even though the anti-smokin state governer wont be in it I am still somewhat excited about this movie. BUT the way they machines look in the last one upsets me, I liked the more industrial looking ones in movie one and two a lot more...
