After saving the cheerleader, could "Heroes" save the world?
Apparently fans wanted to know, giving the first season finale some of its best numbers of its young life Monday. The NBC show earned a 7.8 rating/12 share for the night, according to Fast National ratings from Nielsen Media Research, blowing away last week's numbers of 6.9/10. While in total households "Heroes" lagged behind shows like "The Bachelor" on ABC and "Two and a Half Men" on CBS in terms of households, the superhero show led the 9 p.m. hour in total viewers as well as adults in the coveted 18 to 49 age demographic, according to Zap2it.
The show also beat the season finale of "24" on Fox, which picked up a 6.6/10.
NBC finished third overall with a 6.7/11, behind CBS' 7.1/11, however the Peacock beat the Eye by 100,000 viewers. ABC, with its slate of reality programming, took the night with a 10.2/17.
Fast Nationals usually provide a snapshot of what Americans are watching by pulling numbers from the top urban markets that includes both live viewing and same-day timeshifted viewing. A rating point generally represents more than 1.1 million households while the share indicates the percentage of televisions turned on that was tuned to the specific program. These numbers typically shift when final ratings are issued.
