As ‘Genesis’ ends, ‘Generations’ begins

The first season of "Heroes" has been billed as "Genesis," introducing the various characters who all have a part to play in the impending doom of New York City. But when that story is resolved, the NBC series won’t waste any time before delving into the next chapter, "Generations."

Masi Oka, who plays Hiro on the series, thinks the season finale is the perfect way to end things, and the twist at the end will have fans gasping for more.

"I think it's great the way the finale ends," Oka told SciFi Wire. "It's a wrapping up of Vol. 1, which is 'Genesis.' And it wraps up the whole bomb storyline. So it's a nice finale, and there's a great cliffhanger with everybody, I would say. And you do get to see a little bit of Vol. 2, which is called 'Generations.'"

Oka, who has just been honored for best supporting actor in a television series at the recent Saturn Awards, also revealed that George Takei will be returning to the series as his enigmatic father before the end of the year, and that he has some involvement with the Organization Without Initials (O.W.I.), the secret group to which Mr. Bennett was once a part of.

"It's going to be pretty fantastic," Oka said, referring to the next episode. "[George Takei is] there, and we get a little bit of a training montage, like a Karate Kid thing. He might be part of the O.W.I. We don't know. The whole O.W.I. could be something bigger than we think. And as I say, Vol. 2 is called 'Generations.' What does that mean? Does that mean the past? There's going to be some more things with generations of other families, or is it generations in terms of years? Eras? Who knows?"

And although the finale will bring everything fans want to see and more, it has been a difficult road, involving a lot of hard work and a lot of long nights. But Oka said it was all worth it because "the finale's going to be the bomb."

"Heroes" airs Mondays at 9 p.m. ET on NBC.
