'Stargate: Atlantis' Renewed for Fifth Season

You read correctly Stargate Atlantis si renewed for a 5th Series. I'm so excited!!

"Stargate Atlantis" will get new life.

The popular sci fi show has been renewed for a 20-episode fifth season, it was announced Wednesday, Oct. 24.

"SCI FI is proud to bring 'Atlantis' back for another season," says Mark Stern, Executive Vice President, Original Programming for the network. "'Atlantis' truly came out from under the shadow of its sister series this year and proved that it's a hit in its own right. With this season's exciting new characters and vibrant storylines, 'Atlantis' also shows every sign of matching its sibling's longevity."

The fourth season, currently airing on the Sci-Fi Channel, introduced two new cast members: "Stargate SG-1's" Amanda Tapping and "Firefly's" Jewel Staite. It also marked the temporary return of Paul McGillion, whose character Dr. Carson Beckett perished on the show.

The new season will begin production in early 2008.

i just finished wtaching the first part of atlantis for this season and the story's have been so good. there really focusing on character development and they have some other plot going.

there a big suprise for tayla fans out there and also they are doing some of the new dr stories - jewel saite from serienity is playing the part and she is doing great imo but nobody takes trhat role like carson did.

rumour has it he is coming back.

and the big war between replicators and wriath, human kind is only just begun.

season 5 returns july 11

the last ep of the 4th season was a cliff hanger and rumour has it there will be a new race of alien. i got a funny feeling it will be the hybrid wraith

Didn't realise that "The Last Man (Part 1)"  was a cliffhanger as I've watched that one and it ended with Sheppard getting back to Atlantis in the Present time escaping from the future Atlantis(alternate time line).

According to the episode guide it was Part 1? I may be missed something there.
