Eureka Now Showing on Ten HD Channel AustraliaThose that are not aware Eureka started on Ten HD Channel Australia on the 6th March.
| Quote: | Refreshingly off-beat, this science fiction offering is delightfully irreverent.
Debuting on The Sci-Fi Channel in the US way back in 2006, Eureka is something of a quirk. For a show that registers barely a blip with local audiences, it's surprisingly charming.
With a third season already commissioned in the US, you have to wonder at Network Ten's decision to bury it within their HD programming - with next to no publicity.
The premise of Eureka is simple: US Marshal Jack Carter (Colin Ferguson) finds himself stranded in a small town after his car breaks down. Having travelled far-and-wide in the course of his career, Jack is familiar with the quirks a close-knit community like Eureka might harbour. Alarm bells quickly ring when Jack realises that the charming oddness goes beyond the usual levels: it seems he's wandered into the nation's best kept secret. The US government uses the town as a melting pot for innovation and genius, filling it with the world's best and brightest.
A tired conspiracy hook, yes, but the creators don't hang themselves on it. There's a nice sense of humour that makes the whole thing likeable. The writers have wisely taken a tongue-in-cheek approach to proceedings, respectfully winking at audiences as they offer up convoluted plot lines.
Eureka airs on Ten HD on Thursday, March 27, at 10:30pm. |
